loan words

Like in every language, there are lots of loan and foreign words in the English language. There are two main types:
First, words which are used without being translated.
From the French
déjà vu               faux pas               chic          bon appétit

From the German:
Wunderkind          Schadenfreude          Zeitgeist          Kindergarten


Second, there are words which have been changed when they were brought into English.

baggage (French, from baggage)     button (French, from bouton)          sugar (Arabian, from sukkar)
umbrella (Italian, from ombrello)
