marmite

marmite

Marmite is a dark brown savoury spread, produced in England since 1902. It consists of yeast, which is a by product of beer brewing. It is normally eaten as a savoury spread on bread or toast but it is also eaten with cheese. Marmite has a very strong salty flavour. Either you love it or you hate it! This is actually the British marketing slogan.
Vegemite, which is also very well known, is produced in New Zealand.
